Netflix brings you unlimited movies & TV episodes for only $7.99 a month!
That’s right! $7.99 a month. For some of us this is the thing we’ve been waiting for. I really enjoy movies and TV but I can often spend way too much time sitting watching instead of planning and doing. To correct this problem we canceled our cable many years ago. I have to add that the cost of cable was also tied for first place on the list of reasons for canceling our cable service.

Now that I have had my iPad for a month, I thought I would update everyone on what I have been doing with it. I have used it nearly every single day of that period, at home, at the studio, and even out and about. Below, in no particular order, are five areas that I have found regular use for my iPad.
More tweets coming your way? Twitter has bought Cloudhopper. Cloudhopper is a start up company and they have been working with Twitter to push the 140 character SMS messages from mobile phones to Twitter. I can’t imagine increasing the volume over a billion tweets a month to the Net, but a more formal arrangement is inclined to do it.
Tineye.com is a reverse image look up tool that allows you to find other occurrences of an image on the web. Visit the site and you can upload an image or link to a URL to search but the easiest way is to install the Firefox or Chrome plugin and just right click over any image online to select “Search Image on Tineye”. What is really impressive is it’s ability to find variations of the same image.
I often use this to find some of my more popular stock images or locate larger versions of product shots.
Looking for the perfect font on the fly? Bitstream has developed a browser for your mobile phone. Enter BOLT.
Twitter client applications abound. However, Twitter has acquired Atebits, the company responsible for the Tweetie application for the iPhone. It’s been renamed Twitter for iPhone and it’s FREE. It was previously $2.99.
Is this going to kill all the other Twitter apps out there? Can’t argue with free can you? Tighter integration will speak wonders for the interface. This will be the official application coming directly from Twitter.
Twitter has also released an official Twitter for BlackBerry application as well. Massive capture of the mobile market.
Gmail has its merits. It’s much easier to use with an email client but very handy to use their web-based browser when you’re traveling. They have added a new feature this week: Drag and drop attachments to messages. Easier than navigating through levels of directories.
Enabled if you’re using Firefox or Chrome. Support for other browsers is coming.
Portable portfolio for artists and web designers
Instead of lugging around a large art portfolio, load it all onto the slim and portable iPad. This is especially handy for web developers, because you can show off features of dynamic web pages in your portfolio using the built-in web browser. This also benefits multimedia producers and film students, as you can carry your reels with you everywhere!
Watch a movie in bed without disturbing your spouse
Ah, no more tiny iPhone screen shoved close enough to my face that I can count the individual pixels. No more balancing a laptop precariously on my chest, trying not to overheat myself or drop it while the disk is spinning. An iPad gives me a larger view and lighter weight, in a quiet and cool device.
